Companionship began in 2014
Activities Include:
• Prayer cycle for companion parishes and clergy
• Episcopal visits
• Mission trip
• Fund raising in support of Tarime community projects
We believe that both dioceses have benefitted greatly from our companion relationship. It is humbling to see the incredible faith in the hearts of the people of the diocese of Tarime when they are confronted by so many obstacles and financial restrictions. The people of the Diocese of Algoma have delighted in our association with Tarime. We have built true and lasting relationships with people and have been able to financially and physically support some incredible projects to assist them in the development of their communities, to uplift social and gender equality, and to help them in sharing the Gospel stories.

Companionship began in 2014
Activities Include:
• Daily prayer for companion parishes and clergy
• Episcopal visits
• Cathedral to Cathedral relationship
We remain in contact with Bishop Kameni and know there are a lot of challenges to face on both sides. Athabasca and Ibba pray for each other on a daily basis. They have lost more than 1000 farms to flooding, and we remember the Cathedral parish west of Ibba as their Cathedral was burned down and people were murdered, including the Dean. On top of the political strife in South Sudan, and COVID-19, it is unlikely we will visit one another anytime soon. In the meantime, we hope to visit Ibba one day, perhaps spend time helping and training clergy, to renew our connections and affections with Bishop Wilson and finally meet Mama Agnus. The bonds we have built will outlast any agreement that was made in the past.

We, the Bishops of the Anglican Dioceses of Edmonton and Buyé, on behalf of our people do make a solemn commitment to walk together in faith. We pray that God will bless this partnership, will help us to experience through it the grace and peace of Jesus Christ, and will use it to make us more effective in our sharing of the good news. It is our prayer that through our partnership with one another that we might grow in mutual affection and communion, seek a more profound experience of truth, build up the Church in unity and give glory to Jesus Christ our Saviour.

• Partnership with Ho and Fredericton Rotary, Mother’s Union, Ho Teaching Hospital for a Mobile Health Clinic, Volta Region • Networking links between Diocesan Mother’s Unions
• Youth camp and choir exchanges
It was a true honour in 2020 to be able to visit our Companion Diocese of Ho with the Diocese of Fredericton delegation. I was keen, not only to visit a continent I had never been to, but to connect with the people and priests of Ho. We use our diocesan intercessions at staff prayers every morning and it was good to put faces and places to the names we pray for.

• Sharing Online News
• Exchange delegations of ministry groups
• Solidarity for climate justice and reduction of impacts of extraction industries on Amazon Rain Forest.
• Fund raising in support of local diocesan projects
COVID and several changes of Huron and Amazonia bishops have derailed some of the cohesiveness of our covenant agreement. Given the state of the pandemic in Brazil, their focus has been on survival. Yet, we are together in prayer, and live-streamed services. They have shown us the pure joy of having so much in their deep faith. That has been their gift to us.

The essential character of the relationship relies on a gras-roots commitment and not on an episcopal friendship.

My name is Reverend Pierre Nayabagabo. I am a Pastor of Cibari parish. I live 20 km away from my parish. To attend the Sunday Service by time, I have to leave my home when my children are still sleeping and back home when they are again in bed and so I miss a time to talk to them. With this support [bicycle] therefore, it will not be the case. May the Almight God bless those who have rendered us this service.
