A call for prayer

Anglicans across the country are invited to pray this Sunday for the new ministry of the National Indigenous Bishop. Archbishop Andrew Hutchison, the Primate, announced this week the appointment of Bishop Mark MacDonald, former Episcopal Church Bishop of Alaska as National Indigenous Bishop.

Sunday marks the celebration of the Baptism of our Lord, a time when prayers are traditionally offered for the initiation of new ministries.

Bishop MacDonald’s appointment follows a request made by Canadian Indigenous Anglicans at the 2005 Sacred Circle that they have their own bishop with pastoral oversight of all Indigenous Anglicans no matter where they live.
