It’s because they meet as a family – as brothers and sisters in Christ – says Archbishop Fred Hiltz, the Primate, in a new webcast recorded from Mount Carmel Spiritual Centre in Niagara Falls, Ont., where bishops met April 14 – 18.
In this webcast, Archbishop Hiltz welcomes Canadian Anglicans to one of the twice-a-year gatherings of Canadian bishops, and gives a short tour of what the meetings are like, why the bishops come together and the kinds of issues that they discuss as leaders of the Church.
The meetings are grounded in prayer and Bible study, the Primate says, and they provide a necessary forum for bishops from across the country to come together and discuss the nitty-gritty matters of how they lead and the challenges and joys they face as individuals in their own communities and as leaders of a national church that belongs to an international Communion.
