In this season of Thanksgiving, I urge Canadian Anglicans to join voices and hearts that transcend nationalities and faiths throughout the world, in an expression of thanks and joy for the ongoing rescue of the miners at the San José mine in Copiapó, Chile.
This rescue and the survival of these men has rightly been called a miracle. One of the first miners brought to the surface was quoted as saying that while underground, he felt in the presence of both God and the devil. “I reached out to God,” he said.
I ask all Canadian Anglicans to do likewise and rejoice in the rescue operations and the reuniting of families who have waited so long in hope for their loved ones.
