David Izrahiah Wetmore (1824-1905) was the great-great-grandson of Rev. James Wetmore of New York. After graduating from King’s College, Windsor with a B.A. in 1845, he was ordained deacon in 1848 and priest in 1857. He served in the Diocese of Fredericton, New Brunswick as curate of Weldford, Kent Co. for more than ten years, and then taught at the grammar school in Kingston, Ontario.
Fonds consists of Wetmore’s diary written in pencil and ink in a lined notebook (1851-1859). Entries relate to various daily activities, journeys made, statistics on services performed, distances travelled and visits to the sick. Included is Wetmore’s Certificate of Arts degree (1845), and a receipt for goods issued (1850).
- Title based on contents of fonds.
- Careful handling necessary because of loose and torn pages.
- Later entries in pencil are very faint, illegible.
