Biographical Sketch:

Mossie Moorby (1915-2000) was an R.N. employed as the nurse at Stringer Hall Anglican Hostel in Inuvik, NWT from 1964 to 1972.

Custodial History:
Collection in the custody of Ann Campbell, Mossie Moorby's daughter. The collection was on loan to the General Synod Archives during the years of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission so the material could be used at the TRC National Events. The Archives was given permission to scan the photographs and to keep the photo scans.
Scope and Content:

Fonds consists of scanned photographs created or collected by Mossie Moorby during her time at Stringer Hall, Inuvik, NWT.

The photographs depict daily life at the Stringer Hall Anglican Hostel in Inuvik for the period 1964 to 1972.  Mrs Moorby amassed and carefully documented a collection of candid and portrait photographs of students and staff taken at the hostel in Inuvik and while visiting other communities in the Aklavik/Inuvik area, including Old Crow, Yukon and Fleming Hall in Fort McPherson, NWT. There are also a considerable number of aerial photographs of the Mackenzie Delta region and Inuvik.
