Arthur Henry Sovereign (1881-1966) was born in Woodstock, Ontario and educated for the priesthood at Wycliffe College at the University of Toronto. He was ordained deacon in 1906 and priest in 1907 for the Diocese of New Westminster where he served until becoming Bishop of Yukon and then Bishop of Athabasca. He was also the founder and first president of the John Howard Society of British Columbia. After retiring he stayed in British Columbia and died in Vernon, BC.
