The Anglican Journal has revealed its new, improved online look. The Web site of the Journal, the 131-year-old national newspaper of the Anglican Church of Canada, has undergone its first redesign since the site’s inception in 1998.
This year the Anglican Church of Canada and the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada celebrate five years in full communion. To mark this anniversary, Sunday, November 12th has been designated for celebrations across the country.
Katharine Jefferts Schori, Bishop of the Diocese of Nevada, was elected the 26th Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church, June 18, on the fifth ballot cast by the House of Bishops. Her election was confirmed by the House of Deputies, as is required by church canons.
A public hearing on the response to the Windsor Report welcomed more than 70 speakers the evening of June 14 to address the Standing Committee on the Episcopal Church and the Anglican Communion on four resolutions (A160-163) that deal with the expression of regret, election of bishops, public rites for blessing same-gender unions, pastoral care and Delegated Episcopal Pastoral Oversight (DEPO).
In a series of decisions at its May meeting, the Board of Directors of The Primate’s World Relief and Development Fund (PWRDF) announced the receipt of $600,000 in gifts for HIV and AIDS work and allocated $350,000 in undesignated donations to Partnership for Life: For a Generation without AIDS. Added to the original $1 million fund to initiate the work, the May allocations raise the total funding to $1,950,000.

Topahdewin: The Gladys Cook Story has won an international award in the 39th Annual Worldfest — Houston International Film Festival.
The documentary was produced by Anglican Video, the television production arm of the Anglican Church of Canada. The program documents the life of Gladys Cook, an Aboriginal Anglican who survived physical and sexual abuse as a young girl at the Anglican-run Elkhorn Residential School.
